Cantuccio Artisan Sourdough Pizza in the heart of Camden Road, Tunbridge Wells.
Cantuccio in Italian means small, cosy corner. A fitting name for the equally cosy Italian restaurant known for its freshly made delicious pizzas on the corner of Camden Road. A warm and inviting hot spot for people to meet and enjoy quality delicious Italian food. The local artisan sourdough pizza restaurant is proof that happiness really is all about good food and good company.
It opened its doors for takeaway only in December 2020, as we had yet another lockdown. By May 2021 they swapped pizza boxes for plates as they were finally opened to dine-in. Since then the restaurant has been boasting a successful and positive reputation. So much so that their tables are fully booked in the evenings and on weekends. Their pizzas are fresh, authentic and some might say the best in town! Seyf, Shahin and Alejandro say they wanted to “create a warm cosy and inviting atmosphere where friends and families can meet, laugh and enjoy good quality food, sourced from organic and local suppliers” and many will agree that they have done just that. All three of them have concrete experience in hospitality and pizzerias with Shahin in hotels back in Australia and Seyf in hotels in Turkey where he worked in bakery sections since his high school years. He knows his bread.
They’re all about fresh ingredients, quality meats, cheeses and only the best organic flour, which might be the key to their success. Their garlic bread is made on their signature sourdough pizza base which has become a local favourite.
The space is set up in a simple, casual yet very effective manner. Large communal style wooden tables with beaches as well as window seats and tables for two. A large bar that leads you towards the kitchen where you will find tables for four. The style is rustic, solid wood paired with exposed brick.
When it comes to their pizza, the dough is left to rest and ferment for 72 hours. Flour is organic from traditional grains that have not been hybridised or enhanced. Some of the most popular pizzas include the Nduja, Piccante padrino and Tartufo. Paired with an Aperol spritz, you cannot go wrong!
Even their craft beers are a result of a clever collaboration with Fuggles.
Cantuccio Pizza also offers a range of other Italian delights to satisfy every palate. Start your meal with a selection of antipasti or burrata with fresh pesto, cherry plum tomatoes, figs and sourdough bread. For those seeking a lighter option, there’s the Caprese salad with fresh buffalo mozzarella, cherry plum tomatoes, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, fig-infused balsamic glaze and seasoned with sea salt flakes.
If you have a sweet tooth, they also offer a range of delicious desserts. From the classic tiramisu to Homemade nutella calzone and award-winning Hackney gelato ice cream. Choose from vanilla, pistachio, and vegan chocolate.
